About me

In the recent year I had my mind set on being a finance and econ major, but last year I decided that it wasn't for me. Finance is so dry, that I couldn't handle it. The reason I was going with the two of them was that I love numbers, well mostly math, an analysis. That is why I went with the econ and finance. I figured why get one degree when I could get two. Last year I was in a 400 level finance class and I just couldn't handle it, I hated sitting in class, and I realized it was something that just was clearly not for me. Sitting at a desk all day is absolutely something that I could not handle. I knew that I wanted to stick with economics, because it's something that I am honestly in love with, but I didn't feel that getting just an econ degree would make me very marketable when I graduated.

From here I decided to explore my other business options as to what I could doubt major with. I knew if finance wasn't for me, accounting wasn't going to be my answer. I really liked SCM, but I still needed to take my intro to marketing class. During this time I feel in love with marketing. I always looked at marketing as basically being a salesman, and I was not really about all of that. I have obviously changed my view points on that. Sales can be an aspect of it, but there is so much more. When I took the upper level classes, I saw how marketing and economics crossed over. Some people don't see this, but it does a significant amount actually. You can see this when it comes to market research. This is my favorite aspect of marketing. I love econ because it's a lot of math, but also applied analysis. With marketing research the same concepts apply. During the fall semester I had an internship with Dr. Pinto doing research, and I really enjoyed it.

I currently have an internship at Make-A-Wish in downtown Erie. I like it, but the position I'm in and what I do from day to day is not something that I want to do every day. I think that I want to work with a non-profit, but I also want to be with people, and working with them. I like interaction with people, I can't sit at a desk all day. I talked to Dr.Bicen before and she said that I should maybe look into the field of a consulting firm. She said that I would be using my marketing, but that there is also a lot of analysis behind it. I like the field that I have choose, but I guess I'm not sure where I want to go from here when I graduate. I don't know what kind of job exactly that I can go into that will be satisfying my needs. I am working toward getting my social media certificate, and have a semester left in the fall to finish up my classes. From there hopefully I can find something more to my interest.
